The Point Cook Aviators Baseball & Softball Club wishes to formally advise our members and the wider community that, after an incident on 30 March 2026, in which a vehicle hit and smashed the main electrical cabinet at our home ground, Brookdale Road Reserve, the site remains without power.
We have been advised that the repairs are expected to take at least 15 weeks, which means there will be no power to the site for months. This has significantly impacted the club’s ability to operate. Without lighting, facilities, canteen access, evening training, competitions, and key events have been disrupted, placed at risk or already cancelled.
For many players, training after 6:00 pm is the only viable option. Without lighting, access to the game is significantly reduced, creating real challenges for participation. Currently, Aviators will train at Dunnings Road Reserve (Football Oval), while games will continue at our home ground, Brookdale Road Reserve.
This disruption comes at a critical time for our club, which is experiencing strong growth across all programs, including our first women’s team. Planned initiatives, such as representative training, tryouts, and a statewide all-girls tournament, are now at risk, affecting participation pathways not only for our club, but for baseball across Victoria.
The outage also affects the club’s financial sustainability. As a community-run organisation, we rely on training, games, canteen operations, and events to support our programs. The loss of these over a 4-month period places significant pressure on the club.
We are working closely with Wyndham City Council and other local sporting clubs to explore solutions and minimise disruption and impact on the clubs’ growth and future of baseball in Victoria and Australia.
