23 May 2026 will always hold a special place in the history of the Point Cook Aviators Baseball Club.

It was more than just another fixture on the winter calendar. It was the first time our Women’s team took to the field at home, surrounded by family, friends, supporters and the wider baseball community. It was also the day we officially unveiled the club’s new playing jersey, a design that represents not only who we are today, but the future we are building together.

From the moment the first players arrived, there was a sense that this was something different. The diamond was alive with activity throughout the day as junior and senior games filled the schedule, creating an atmosphere that reflected exactly what the Aviators strive to be: a club where every player, regardless of age or experience, belongs.

A highlight of the afternoon was welcoming Wyndham City Councillor Susan McIntyre to the club. We were honoured to have Cr McIntyre throw the ceremonial first pitch before the Women’s game, marking an important milestone in the club’s history and recognising the continued growth of baseball within our local community.

The first pitch symbolised more than the beginning of a game. It celebrated the countless hours contributed by volunteers, coaches, players and families who have worked to establish our inaugural Women’s program. Every training session, every committee meeting and every conversation encouraging someone to give baseball a try had led to this moment.

The day also marked the official launch of our new club jersey.

A jersey is far more than fabric and stitching. It tells a story. It represents the commitment of everyone who wears it and everyone who has helped build the club. For many of our Women’s players, this was the first opportunity to wear the Aviators colours in front of a home crowd—a moment that will be remembered for years to come.

While every game has a result, some days are remembered for what they represent rather than the final score.

This was one of those days.

Our inaugural Women’s team has already shown incredible determination, resilience and passion for the game. Seeing them run onto our home diamond wearing the new club colours demonstrated just how far the Aviators have come in a short period of time.

It was also a reminder that this is only the beginning.

The Point Cook Aviators were founded with the vision of creating opportunities for everyone to play baseball. The Women’s program is a significant part of that vision, and watching it continue to grow is something the entire club can be proud of.

To everyone who attended, volunteered, supported, cheered from the sidelines, and helped make the day possible—thank you.

History isn’t made by one person.

It’s built by a community.

And on 23 May 2026, our community took another important step forward.

Here’s to many more firsts, many more home games, and many more women discovering that baseball has a place for them at the Point Cook Aviators.

Grounded. Never.
